From Cotton to Cars series #3-Original painting/acrylic 24 x 36 inches framed ready to hang

During the migration period of the 1960s, many black people had an opportunity to leave the cotton fields of the South and come up to the North and work in new plants called automobiles.

African people worked free producing America's #1 commodity, King Cotton during the 19th and 20th centuries.  Around the 1930's the automotive industry was in need of serious minded laborers.  Many Africans migrated to Detroit to work in the super hot heat of the car factory knowing they would be highly compensated compared to their laboring as "Cotton Pickers!"
